June 21, 2008: Bob Higgins wins the ARC GTR race at Thunderhill
The American Racing Club (ARC) is proud to offer its racing series; a challenging driver's series at California's best tracks. Top drivers are pitted against each other under a unique format and clean racing rules. Rather than having a homogeneous group of cars run together, classing is instead by closely matched drivers of various types of cars in the same class, all running roughly the same lap times. Imagine a CMC car dicing with a Spec Miata, or a Ferrari Challenge 360 angling for a pass with a race-prepared Corvette. Formula and Sports Racers are also allowed in the competition.
Don't think for a second that this is going to be a "soft" racing experience. Its a competitive environment, laced with excitement and action, run within 13/13 "gentleman's racing" rulebook. That is, no contact allowed, and any contact will result in review and possible 13-month probation and potential suspension. Drivers are be able to spend their time and dollar budget on tires or fuel instead of repairing car-contact damage.
ARC's philosophy is to put racing back into club racing, by creating a safe but low overhead environment with practice, qualification, and two races each day. For those that want extra track time, you can purchase open track sessions for a minimal charge, and run with the NCRC Open Track sessions. You can cross over from other racing series without modifications to your car, while still being extremely competitive in the ARC. Read on for details on how we license (certify) drivers, our classification and points system, and everything else you'll need to be a part of our exciting race series.
Here's what the ARC offers racers:
- One practice, one qualification, and two races each day
- A thin rule book, allowing easy cross-over from other clubs without adding required modifications to your car
- The best safety crews available
- Stiff competition in all classes, no matter if you're a front runner or mid-pack driver
- Licensed drivers from major sanctioning organizations can get a waiver for medical, annual tech, and racing certification
- Well organized, *clean* racing, built for driver and spectator excitement
