Tracks
The Northern California Racing Club doesn't own a track (yet), but rents tracks for our members or other groups. We frequent the NorCal tracks Laguna Seca, Thunderhill and Sears Point, and extend our reach to Buttonwillow and Reno-Fernley as well. Each track has its own rules and differences which can effect how you prepare for the day. We've described some particular information for each track of the three road tracks, and we encourage you to also read any information at the track's web sites as well.
Typically, we'll run open track events with three or four run groups, separating skill levels into novice, intermediate and advanced, etc. Each group should get five on-track sessions.
Schedule permitting, the first track session of the day will be a "lead-follow" set of parade laps for any beginners to follow some of our instructors, and see the correct line around the track. Then we'll go into sequences of open lapping sessions for about 20-30 minutes each session.
Passing rules will generally be more open in the faster groups, though we require safe passing in all groups. Any passing which doesn't follow the run group rules will set you up for a black flag, and flagrant violation of this or any NCRC rule is likely to get you booted out of the track for the day.
See the specific track pages for more details on each track and local rules.
